JoCo Cruise 2020

COVID-19 Future Cruise Credit

Terms & Conditions and FAQ

What is JoCo Cruise COVID-19 Future Cruise Credit?

The JoCo Cruise 2020 cancellation policy is clear and does not allow for compensation or allowance of any kind for cancellations made after January 18, 2020.

However, because of the exceptional circumstances directly related to COVID-19, guests who did not sail on JoCo Cruise 2020 due to the global pandemic may qualify for JoCo Cruise COVID-19 Future Cruise Credit (JCCCFCC).

The purpose of this program is to provide an opportunity for those individuals who were not able to sail aboard JoCo Cruise 2020 due to the exceptional COVID-19 pandemic circumstances to sail with JoCo Cruise in either 2021 or 2022. It is created, managed, and paid for by JoCo Cruise, and is not connected with Holland America Line’s or any other company’s initiatives.

The terms governing qualification for and application of JCCCFCC are listed on this page. JCCCFCC is not redeemable for cash and has no cash value, and is not transferable in any way. Exceptions cannot be made to the terms listed herein.

Who is eligible to receive JoCo Cruise COVID-19 Future Cruise Credit?

JoCo Cruise always recommends purchasing travel insurance in case your travel plans change for any reason. Due to the extraordinary circumstances surrounding COVID-19, guests who meet ALL of the below requirements and whose cancellation was not covered under their travel insurance policy qualify to receive JoCo Cruise COVID-19 Future Cruise Credit (JCCCFCC).

JCCCFCC will be issued to eligible Primary Contacts from JoCo Cruise 2020 bookings, as that person is the designated contact for all payment concerns.

JoCo Cruise COVID-19 Future Cruise Credit Qualification Criteria:

  1. You were listed as the Primary Contact (the first listed passenger in the JoCo Cruise User Account System) on a JoCo Cruise 2020 booking where one or more passengers did not sail.
  2. Your JoCo Cruise 2020 booking was paid in full as of February 14, 2020.
  3. At least one passenger in your booking did not sail on JoCo Cruise 2020, either because your entire booking canceled or at least one passenger in your booking canceled.
  4. You, or a designated representative from your booking, corresponded with JoCo Cruise and stated that the cancellation was due to the COVID-19 pandemic and such correspondence took place prior to March 14th, 2020. Note: if you corresponded with Holland America Line or Guest Services onboard the ms Nieuw Amsterdam to the same effect within this timeframe, you may also be eligible.
  5. The cancellation in your booking took place AFTER February 14th, 2020.
  6. If you purchased travel insurance for JoCo Cruise 2020: you submitted a claim to your insurer or otherwise received definitive word as to whether you were covered by your travel insurance policy. And, ultimately, your cancellation was not covered by your travel insurance.
  7. All Primary Contacts in affected 2020 bookings will be contacted directly by JoCo Cruise with qualification documentation customized to their specific booking. This qualification documentation must be correctly filled out and submitted to JoCo Cruise by May 3, 2020.

How do I apply my JoCo Cruise COVID-19 Future Cruise Credit? Can I apply my credit if I am not the primary contact?

You can apply your JoCo Cruise COVID-19 Future Cruise Credit (JCCCFCC) to a JoCo Cruise 2021 or 2022 booking solely through one of the following three ways.

Note that in all cases, your qualification form must be completed and submitted by May 3, 2020. Additionally, new bookings must be made through the special links below. Credit cannot be retroactively applied to new bookings not made through these links.

  1. To an existing 2021 booking (made on or before April 3, 2020), of which you are an existing passenger.
When filling out your qualification form you can opt to apply your credit to a 2021 booking of which you are an existing passenger. You do not have to be primary contact in this particular case only.Note: you must select this option on your qualification form (and qualify). Notify us if we need to update your qualification form with your correct existing booking details. Once your qualification form is complete your credit cannot be applied to an existing booking unless that was selected on your qualification form.
  2. To a new 2021 booking, of which you will be the Primary Contact.
If you qualified and opted to have credit issued for JoCo Cruise 2021, your credit may be applied by booking through the customized 2021 JCCCFCC link that will be emailed directly to you. (You must be the 2021 booking’s Primary Contact in this case.)
If you have issues booking via this link, or do not see your credit reflected as you complete your booking, please contact [email protected].
  3. To a new 2022 booking, of which you will be the Primary Contact.
If you qualified and opted to have credit issued for JoCo Cruise 2022, your credit may be applied by booking through the customized 2022 JCCCFCC link that will be emailed directly to you later this year. (You must be the 2022 booking’s Primary Contact in this case.)
This link will only be active once 2022 booking has opened. If you have issues booking via this link, or do not see your credit reflected as you complete your booking, please contact [email protected].

Who is the Primary Contact on a JoCo Cruise Booking?

The Primary Contact is the first listed passenger for that booking in the JoCo Cruise User Account System. The Primary Contact is the person who made the initial booking online for JoCo Cruise and is, ultimately, responsible for all the payment arrangements in your booking. You can find more information in the JoCo Cruise 2020 FAQ “What does it mean to be the Primary Contact for a booking” item.

Can I receive my JCCCFCC directly even if I’m not the Primary Contact? Why must the JoCo Cruise COVID-19 Future Cruise Credit be issued to my booking’s Primary Contact, regardless of which passenger(s) sailed or not?

JoCo Cruise policy (per our booking process and FAQ) is that the Primary Contact is ultimately responsible for payment of all booking balances. Individuals within any given booking can make (and have made over the years) a wide variety of private financial arrangements.

Because the Primary Contact bears ultimate financial responsibility for a given booking, and because of the highly variable nature of individual booking arrangements, any booking’s JoCo Cruise COVID-19 Future Cruise Credit is issued to that booking’s Primary Contact—including in cases where the Primary Contact sailed on JoCo Cruise 2020 and one or more other passengers in the booking did not. The credit is not transferrable, it is not redeemable for cash and it has no cash value.

As necessary, we recommend that individuals speak with their booking’s Primary Contact to privately make financial arrangements acceptable to all parties. JoCo Cruise is not a party to bookings’ internal financial arrangements, and will not become involved in regards to this Future Cruise Credit program.

Can I transfer some or all of my JoCo Cruise COVID-19 Future Cruise Credit to another person, or from one booking to another?

JoCo Cruise COVID-19 Future Cruise Credit (JCCCFCC) may only be applied by the eligible Primary Contact to whom it was granted. It cannot be transferred to anyone else under any circumstances (neither before nor after it is applied).

JCCCFCC will not “follow” you if you move to another booking. If you apply your credit to one booking and then move to another booking, your credit is voided. Once voided, credits will be considered “used” and will no longer be valid.

I applied my JoCo Cruise COVID-19 Future Cruise Credit to a booking and now I need to cancel; can I get my credit returned for future use?

No. Once your JoCo Cruise COVID-19 Future Cruise Credit (JCCCFCC) is applied to a booking, if you cancel or otherwise depart that booking, the credit is voided. Once voided, credits will be considered “used” and will no longer be valid.

Can I redeem all or part of my JoCo Cruise COVID-19 Future Cruise Credit as cash?

No. JoCo Cruise COVID-19 Future Cruise Credit is not redeemable for cash and has no cash value.

Can I split my JoCo Cruise COVID-19 Future Cruise Credit between JoCo Cruise 2021 and 2022?

JoCo Cruise COVID-19 Future Cruise Credit (JCCCFCC) may only be applied, in its entirety, to either a JoCo Cruise 2021 or 2022 booking and may not be “split” between the two sailings. The selection of which cruise you wish to apply your credit toward must be made on your qualification form. Once a cruise is selected and your credit is issued, your selected cruise cannot be changed.

Can I book multiple staterooms on JoCo Cruise 2021 or 2022 and “split” my JoCo Cruise COVID-19 Future Cruise Credit between those bookings?

No; your JoCo Cruise COVID-19 Future Cruise Credit (JCCCFCC) may only be applied to one stateroom. A person cannot be the Primary Contact (or any other type of passenger) for more than one stateroom on any given cruise, and the JCCCFCC can only be applied by a given booking’s Primary Contact.

After applying my JoCo Cruise COVID-19 Future Cruise Credit, I have a negative balance on my account. Can I get that applied as onboard credit or remitted to me via check/PayPal/other?

Any negative balance on your accounts is not redeemable in any way. If you wish to redeem the full amount of your JoCo Cruise COVID-19 Future Cruise Credit (JCCCFCC), we recommend booking at or above your previous cabin category. If you have a negative balance on your account, that balance will remain until two weeks prior to sailing and may be applied to stateroom upgrades, if they are available prior to sailing. (So, for example, if your existing 2021 booking is for a Verandah stateroom, you could book a Suite—or if none are currently available, sign up on the 2021 wait list for a Suite—and if one becomes available, you could apply your negative balance toward the price increase for the Suite upgrade.) Please check our Pricing Page for current availability and prices. Note that all JoCo Cruise booking policies regarding change fees and deadlines still apply.

If you have an existing JoCo Cruise 2021 booking and are applying your credit to that booking, please be mindful of this fact, as existing payments on your booking may make a negative booking balance more likely or increase its magnitude.

Negative balances which remain on JoCo Cruise User Accounts will be “zeroed out” and considered void as of two weeks prior to sailing. They will not be redeemable in any way after that time, and cannot be applied to onboard upgrades or any other onboard expense. Once voided, credits will be considered “used” and will no longer be valid.

Can I apply any remaining JoCo Cruise COVID-19 Future Cruise Credit balance toward JoCo Cruise Merchandise (either online or onboard) or other onboard purchases (e.g., drinks, spa amenities, etc.)?

No. JoCo Cruise COVID-19 Future Cruise Credit can only be applied toward the cost of your booking, and cannot be applied to any other pre-cruise purchases or onboard expenses.

What is the qualification process for JoCo Cruise COVID-19 Future Cruise Credit?

JoCo Cruise has compiled a list of passengers who canceled their trips due to COVID-19 within the eligible time frame. These passengers will receive an email from [email protected] with detailed instructions on the qualification process. If you believe that you have missed this notification for some reason, please check your spam folder and add [email protected] to your address book. If you still cannot find your notification, please contact [email protected].

Please note that exceptions cannot be made to the qualification criteria and only those who complete the qualification process may be eligible for JoCo Cruise COVID-19 Future Cruise Credit.

I believe I qualify for the JoCo Cruise COVID-19 Future Cruise Credit program and didn’t get an email. Can you help?

If you believe you are eligible for participation and didn’t receive a notification, please check your spam folder and add [email protected] to your address book. If you still cannot find your notification, please contact [email protected]. Participation is subject to an eligibility determination made by JoCo Cruise.

How was my JoCo Cruise COVID-19 Future Cruise Credit calculated?

If your entire JoCo Cruise 2020 booking was canceled, the amount of your JoCo Cruise COVID-19 Future Cruise Credit (JCCCFCC) should match the total amount paid for that booking (not including any pre-cruise merchandise purchases).

If only some passengers in your booking canceled, your JCCCFCC should be a proportional percentage of the total amount paid for that booking (not including any pre-cruise merchandise purchases). For example, if one passenger in a triple occupancy booking canceled, the JCCCFCC should equal one third of the total amount paid.

If you still have questions, contact [email protected].

I received coverage from my travel insurance for JoCo Cruise 2020, am I eligible to receive JoCo Cruise COVID-19 Future Cruise Credit?

If you received full coverage of your cruise fare: you are not eligible for JoCo Cruise COVID-19 Future Cruise Credit (JCCCFCC).

If you received partial coverage of your cruise fare: you may be eligible for some amount of JCCCFCC. Refer to your Qualification Form for more details. The final dollar amount of coverage must be accurately reflected on your Qualification Form and JoCo Cruise may request supporting documentation.

I’ve submitted a claim to my travel insurance provider for JoCo Cruise 2020, but I won’t, or may not, receive a decision from them prior to the May 3 JoCo Cruise COVID-19 Future Cruise Credit qualification paperwork deadline. What do I do?

Please contact [email protected] ASAP regarding your situation.

Can I submit my qualification form after May 3rd?

Unfortunately, no. JoCo Cruise must receive all qualification forms by May 3rd in order to properly plan and budget for the future. This is also the reason you must select between the 2021 and 2022 sailings during the qualification form process.

I don’t know which JoCo Cruise sailing I want to apply my credit to, but I have to choose. What do I do?

We understand that it may be difficult to make this decision right now. Unfortunately, for operational reasons, postponing this selection process until specific JoCo Cruise 2022 sailing dates are announced is not possible.

While we can make no guarantees and nothing is official until our itinerary is finalized and announced, we currently expect JoCo Cruise 2022 will sail in the Caribbean during roughly the same calendar period as most recent JoCo Cruises (sometime between February and April 2022). To be absolutely clear, this is subject to change and is in no way guaranteed.

Does Holland America Line’s “Book with Confidence” Future Cruise Credit program apply to JoCo Cruise?

No. As noted in Holland America Line’s March 6, 2020 press release, their Book with Confidence program is “not applicable to guests booked on a charter sailing,” which includes JoCo Cruise. JoCo Cruise COVID-19 Future Cruise Credit is created, managed, and paid for by JoCo Cruise, and is not connected with Holland America Line’s or any other company’s initiatives.

Are there any additional terms and conditions?

In addition to all terms and conditions listed above, JoCo Cruise COVID-19 Future Cruise Credit (JCCCFCC) is subject to the following additional terms and conditions:

  • All JoCo Cruise reservations made using JCCCFCC are subject to the JoCo Cruise Terms and Conditions for that year’s sailing, which may be changed at any time. You must agree to the JoCo Cruise Terms and Conditions at the time of booking.
  • Qualification for JCCCFCC is determined by JoCo Cruise at its sole discretion.
  • JCCCFCC is only offered for qualifying guests from the JoCo Cruise 2020 sailing. This program may not be offered in the future.
  • JCCCFCC may be modified or withdrawn at any time by JoCo Cruise without prior notice, and may be subject to additional terms and conditions as provided by JoCo Cruise.

The following two items were added to this FAQ on July 23, 2020, in response to the introduction of the 2023 Future Cruise Credit

I had a JoCo Cruise COVID-19 Future Cruise Credit (JCCCFCC) that I chose to apply to a 2021 booking (which has now transformed into a 2022 booking). Am I eligible for a 2023 Future Cruise Credit (23FCC), and what happens if I wish to cancel my 2022 booking for a refund?

The following terms apply in the above situations:

    • Because you chose to apply your JCCCFCC credit to 2021 and it was rescheduled for 2022, you are eligible to cancel for a 23FCC. If you wish to choose a 23FCC, then the 23FCC will be issued in the amount of your total current balance (including both the amount of your JCCCFCC and any additional payments made, as applicable).
    • If you choose to cancel your current 2022 booking for a refund, then, per the terms of the JCCCFCC as outlined in this FAQ, the credit is not redeemable and has no cash value, and any refund issued would be solely for the amount of any additional payments you may have made.

      • If you have not made any additional payments towards your existing booking beyond the JCCCFCC, no refund will be issued.
      • If any cancellation fees apply, those fees will be deducted from the balance of any existing additional payments prior to any refund being issued.

    • You are not eligible for a 23FCC credit, per the terms and conditions above, as you chose to apply your credit to the 2022 cruise.
    • If you choose to cancel your current 2022 booking for a refund, then, per the terms of the JCCCFCC as outlined in this FAQ, the credit is not redeemable and has no cash value, and any refund issued would be solely for the amount of any additional payments you may have made.
