JoCo Cruise strives to accommodate the needs of all our attendees to the greatest extent possible. We’ve assembled this page for the benefit of those who avail themselves of the ship’s accessibility features and practices.
JoCo Cruise and Nieuw Amsterdam
The accessibility options and procedures for JoCo Cruise differ by cruise line, and vary each year due to cruise line policy changes, and differences among their ships. Please be sure that you are reading the accessibility guide for the correct ship and year. This guide is for JoCo Cruise on Nieuw Amsterdam, a Holland America Line Signature Class ship.
Holland America has a thorough FAQ on accessibility options onboard its ships. Any guest with medical, accessibility, dietary or any other special requirements should submit a Special Requirements Information (SRI) form. (You’ll need your HAL booking number to complete the form).
NOTE: guests with non-life threatening dietary restrictions should contact the Ship Services Department at 1‐800‐541‐1576 and ask them to add that information as a note in your booking.
You must submit special needs requests directly to HAL, as they must handle them directly. JoCo Cruise cannot process these requests.
For detailed information on accessibility of shore excursions, HAL strongly recommends contacting their Shore Excursions Department prior to embarkation at 1-888-425-9376 (or locally at 206-626-7320), or visiting the Shore Excursions Office on board.
Accessible staterooms are available, in limited quantities, in the following categories:
Neptune Suite (SA), Signature Suite (SY), and Interior (K)
can accommodate up to three guests
Verandah (V, VA & VB), Ocean View (C, D & H), and Interior Cabins (I & J)
can accommodate up to two guests
There are no accessible staterooms on the Nieuw Amsterdam that can accommodate four passengers.
All accessible staterooms on Nieuw Amsterdam feature wide interior & exterior doors, a roll-in shower with grab bars, shower seat, accessible shower controls, and hand held shower head. Some, but not all, staterooms also feature wheelchair access to one or both sides of the bed. REQUESTING AN ACCESSIBLE STATEROOM
When going through the JoCo Cruise Booking process, on the “Checkout” screen under “Other Info,” please indicate your request for an accessible stateroom and a general description of your needs.
In addition, please email us at [email protected] at the moment of booking to let us know that you are requesting an accessible cabin. The sooner we are aware of your request the better we can match you up with the best cabin type for your particular needs. If you have already booked and need to inform us of accessibility needs not previously mentioned, please email us.
